Pillar base change We began this year’s season with an important and delicate task: changing the stone bases of the two main pillars that support the house. The old bases were quite large, taking a considerable amount of space. We had to find two heavy-duty car lifters in order to temporarily support the main beam. We completely removed the existing pillars and stones, buried a heavy stone onto which we positioned new base stones that had been ordered and cut in a quarry. We introduced a metal rod to link the stone to the pillar and thus avoid slippage between the two. A few hours and sweat drops later, we removed the temporary supports and the trick was done!!
